River Cottage is a two bedroomed stone barn converted to a high quality holiday cottage at the foot of the Black Mountains in rural Herefordshire.
It offers open plan connected living space in the part of the Cottage which was formerly a barn. Here you will find, under a high vaulted ceiling, the sitting room space, the dining area and the fully fitted kitchen area. Our guests love the way that everyone stays connected when food is being prepared or eaten and they love the way that, in summer months, the French doors to the patio area can be opened to extend the living space into the garden.
The Cottage is well insulated and the central heating is very efficient but in the living space, the heating is supplemented by an impressive wood burning stove. This keeps things very cozy even on the coldest nights.
The main bathroom is off the living space and of a good size. It offers a wash basin, toilet and bath (with shower over).
There is half flight of stairs rising from the open plan living space which takes you to the two bedrooms. The master bedroom, which has its own en suite shower-room, is set off to the right from the landing at the top of the flight of stairs. At the end of the landing lies the twin bedroom (which can also take a travel cot when required).
As a whole, the Cottage is kept up to date with modern furnishings and facilities throughout. So the modern fitted kitchen offers an integrated double oven, 4 ring ceramic hob, a toaster, a 2L Microwave Oven, an integrated fridge (with small freezer section), an integrated dishwasher, and an integrated washer/dryer. We offer satellite TV, streamed catch up TV and access to subscription TV (Now TV, Netflix) and we have a very good WiFi service. There are books, CDs, Board Games and Dvds provided too. On a book shelf behind the Sofa sits a basket full of information concerning local walks, activities and amenities.
